iProtectYou Review:
Summary:
iProtectYou provides effective website filtering, newsgroup, and custom keyword based chat blocking, however the user interface is a bit complicated to use in find ing the settings you are looking for and lacks important monitoring capabilities.
Website Filtering/Blocking:
iProtectYou contains about 15 selectable filter categories as well as five level filtering strength. You can create and configure custom groups and users, however, the users must be identical to the Windows login name - you cannot switch users while you are logged into Windows. Also, there is no immediate override feature - if you want to disable filtering, you have to completely log off of Windows and log in as an administrator.
Other Filtering/Blocking:
iProtectYou allows you to add your own list of keywords which will be blocked. These words will be blocked in chat and email programs. IProtectYou also allows you to add specific programs that cannot access the internet. They also have a time management feature which you can use to limit internet usage to certain times of the day or limit total time for each day.
Monitoring:
IProtectYou will monitor and log accessed and blocked URLs. It will also log all programs (times and duration) which access the internet. You can also setup email alerts. You cannot monitor chat, email, keystrokes, or screenshots.
Management:
You can create and configure custom groups and users, however, the users must be identical to the Windows login name - you cannot switch users while you are logged into Windows. Configuration may be a bit tricky - some options are arranged and categorized strangely.
Support:
They have an online user manual and a support form. Their support is decent.
